      Notice is hereby given that the Board of Appeal and Equalization of Page Township shall meet on Tuesday, April 28th, 10:00 AM at the Page Town Hall (21804 – 140th Ave, Milaca). Due to the public health emergency, only one member of the public will be admitted at a time. Call-in options will be available and will be posted on the front door and on www.PageTownship.org. Contact the Clerk at (320) 247-5030 or [email protected] for questions regarding remote access.

      The purpose of this meeting is to determine whether taxable property in the Town has been properly valued and classified by the assessor, and also to determine whether corrections need to be made.

      If you believe the value or classification of your property is incorrect, please contact the Mille Lacs County Assessor’s office (320-983-8311) to discuss your concerns. If you are still not satisfied with the valuation or classification after conferring with the Assessor, you may appear before the Page Township Board of Appeal & Equalization. An appointment through the Assessor is necessary (320-983-8311). The Board shall review the valuation, classification, or both if necessary, and shall correct it as needed. Generally, an appearance before your local Board is required by law before an appeal can be taken to the County Board of Appeal and Equalization.

Gravel – Request for Quotes

Class 5 Gravel

Page Township will be accepting quotes for 6,000 cubic yards (more or less) of Class 5 aggregate surfacing (per MNDOT Specification 3138). The aggregate gradation shall be modified to 7% to 12% clay content by weight passing the 200 sieve. Gravel shall be delivered and windrowed upon Township roads, as ordered, by September 4, 2020. Gravel contractor is responsible for coordinating delivery with Township’s grading contractor. Gravel contractor must give 48 hours notice to the Township prior to start of delivery.

All quotes must be submitted electronically or delivered to 21804 140th Ave, Milaca 56353 (US Mail or dropbox) with a current Certificate of Insurance by Monday, April 20, 2020 at 7:00pm. Quotes will be read at the Regular Board Meeting held that evening. The Page Township Board reserves the right to reject any or all quotes. MARCH MEETING: The next regular meeting of the Page Township Board of Supervisors will be held on Monday, March 16th at 7:00pm at the Town Hall. The meeting agenda is posted as a .pdf in the Google Drive. The regular meeting will be followed by the Board of Audit to review 2019 finances.

TOWNSHIP ELECTION: On March 10th, nine Page Township residents voted in the election of officers. The winners were: Jason Theisen (Supervisor A, 3-year term), Tom Burk (Supervisor C, 1-year term), and Kyle Weimann (Clerk, 2-year term).

2021 LEVY. At the March 10th Annual Meeting, gathered electors voted to set the 2021 property tax levy at the level recommended by the Supervisors, $144,000, divided between the five operating funds ($19,000 general, $102,750 road & bridge, $6,750 town hall, $750 park, and $14,750 fire). This will be the first increase since 2016. The overall levy is $24,000 less than it was in 2012.

Election. All eligible (registered) voters in Page Township may vote for Town Officers. Voting hours are 5:00pm – 8:00pm on March 10th at the Page Town Hall (21804 – 140th Ave, Milaca). On the ballot this year are:

Annual Meeting. Any member of the public is welcome at the Annual Meeting. It is an opportunity to discuss the current and future state of the township and provide guidance and feedback to the elected Board. The annual meeting will convene at the Page Town Hall at 8:00pm, immediately following the end of voting. An agenda is available from the drive (pdf).

2021 Property Tax Levy. Residents at the annual meeting will vote for the 2021 property tax levy for each of the Township’s five operating funds (or recess the decision until a later meeting prior to September). Based on fiscal trends and anticipated needs, the Supervisors have recommended a levy of $144,000, the first change since 2016 and lower than 2011. The levy would be divided between funds as follows:

Road Grading

Page Township seeks QUOTES for road grading for 2020.  Written quotes must include:

(1) Lump sum rate for each pass of the full 25 miles (more or less) of road. Each pass will be done approximately every other week throughout the season.

(2) Hourly rate for additional, more frequent grading of certain road sections on-call as requested by the Town.

(3) Hourly rate for grader with packer attachment for applying new gravel or as needed.

Quotes must be submitted with a Certificate of Insurance ($1.5 million liability) by March 16, 2020 at 7:00 PM at the Page Town Hall (21804 – 140th Ave, Milaca). Contractor must be present. The Page Town Board reserves the right to reject any or all quotes. Selected contractor must sign contract and provide W-9. Notice is hereby given to the qualified voters of Page Township, Mille Lacs County, State of Minnesota, that the Annual Election of Town Officers and Annual Town Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Page Town Hall: 21804 – 140th Avenue, Milaca.

The Election Poll hours will be from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at which time the voters will elect

SUPERVISOR A for a three-year term,

SUPERVISOR C for a one-year term (special election)

CLERK for a two-year term.

The Annual Meeting will commence at 8:00 PM to conduct all business prescribed by law, including setting the annual property tax levy

Levy History

LEVY RECOMMENDATION: At the February meeting, Supervisors will consider whether to recommend a 2021 property tax levy amount at the Annual Township meeting to be held on March 10. The Township maintains five separate operating funds to ensure fiscal responsibility for each of the components, with over 70% dedicated for road maintenance. The overall levy has not changed since 2015 and is lower than it was in 2012.

BUCKTHORN WORKSHOP: An information session on Buckthorn control and prevention, including state and federal financial assistance programs, will be hosted at the Page Town Hall on Tuesday, January 21 at 6:00pm.

SNOW PLOWING: Snow season has officially begun. Page Township generally does not dispatch the plow unless 3 inches of snow has fallen and it will not be sent out in hazardous conditions. Drivers must yield to the plow and exercise caution when traveling on unplowed roads.

  • Any damage to a mailbox or other personal property from plow operations will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. No mailboxes will be replaced unless they have proper swing-away posts.
  • It is unlawful for residents or landowners to push snow onto or across any public right-of-way, including Township Roads.
